John Laney has worked in a variety of educational settings and contributed to a range of volunteer groups. After working in marketing and public relations, he switched to teaching, starting out with the Teach for America organization. He taught social studies in middle school and high school, in urban and suburban districts.
He currently tutors with NJ Department of Corrections, at an urban elementary school, and at a Boys & Girls Club. He also works as the education coordinator for a church in Essex County. He stays active with community groups by being a Hospice volunteer, Food Bank volunteer, and Rotary member. He has a master’s degree in Education Administration, and a double bachelor’s degree in Journalism and History.
