“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
— Margaret Mead
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
With Need2Read there is always an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference.
Volunteer at our weekly literacy session with homeless youth. The sessions are given on Wednesday nights from 6:45pm-7:30pm at various congregations throughout Union County (Scotch Plains, Westfield, Cranford, Springfield, Summit, Berkeley Heights, and New Providence). Volunteers can choose which locations they would like to attend.
Run a table at a local community fair where you'll share info on Need2Read and give away free books. This usually takes place in late spring and summer.
Help sort books at our storage facility. Book sorting is conducted once a quarter.
EXIT LIBRARY PROGRAM
Donate financial or in-kind to provide reading nooks to the new homes of previously homeless families. Help assemble and deliver an “Exit Library” today!
Volunteer at one of our weekly literacy sessions, at a local event, as an instructor for Project7, as a support staff member, or at our storage facility!
